Rumford is located at the Northern part of the City of East Providence, bordering Pawtucket, RI, and Seekonk, MA. Named after Count Rumford, Sir Benjamin Thompson, the neighborhood was famously home to the Rumford Chemical Works factory that made Rumford baking powder. The factory is now home to the Rumford Center, which offers high-end loft apartment rentals and neighborhood retail stores.
